SKIN & BONES

Winter 2015
Research work done at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
Design team : Pegah Roshan, Ammar Palgharwala, Jorel Sanchez Soto, Luis Ochoa, Lyo heng Liu, Richard Ruiz, Yuchen Liu
Critic : Julia Koerner
This project encompasses research into the processes of constructing a large-scale fiberglass panel without the use of a conventional mold.
A robotically activated waffle pressed and reinforced façade panel was achieved with the resin infusion process. This prototype is a panel of more than 6 feet in height and 4 feet in width capable of being lifted and carry by a single person due to its lightweight and stiffness. Nonetheless, this proposal is of that of a MEGA-Panel that serves as a rainscreen to the building.
